Purchasing Outside the United States
At AudioScape we’re proud of the fact we can ship out cool gear to pretty much anywhere in the world! (We’re still waiting on that first Antarctica customer 🤯) Naturally, however, every place does things just a little bit differently and this often leads to questions about how that process might work. We hope this article can help clear up some of those questions!

No — from our experience even with VAT, duties, and shipping we prefer to offer our units built on-demand with a lead time over exclusively using third-party resellers
EU Shipping: How to navigate VAT
After you add items to your cart and head to the check-out step, you’ll be prompted to fill in your shipping info. If a European destination is input to the form, an option will appear to select handling VAT, with two choices:
1) VAT (R#): This option presents the precalculated VAT fee upfront at check-out. If you choose to pay upfront, then VAT is fully taken care of.
2) Ex-VAT (R#): This option will exclude a VAT charge from check-out on our site, and you will pay the fee later with the shipping carrier.
The R# that appears on each option is just a reference for our own internal distribution scheme, and may safely be ignored.
If you have any specific VAT needs, please include them in the Special Notes section. If you are making a B2B purchase, we will need a business VAT number and we cannot guarantee our shipping carrier will not try to charge regardless. With a valid VAT number you can apply any fees as a refund — if we try to trigger a reverse charge, it won’t always work from our end.
General Shipping Costs:
All of our shipping prices are based on what a country’s average shipping cost is for us, but we’re always happy to run a custom quote on shipping depending on the specifics of your situation.
General Tariff Info:
With a small handful of exceptions for some countries, we typically use the following HS codes:
General Non-EU – 85185000
EU – 85184000 (for exemption from tariffs and excess fees)
AU Shipping:
In Australia, we partner with Franklin Audio to facilitate local fulfillment. We frequently send pallets to them internationally via DHL to check safe arrival on entry, and they forward the packages through Australia Post to their destinations. Shipping costs include GST, DHL shipping, and post.
