AudioScape is proud to bring the classic 76D to our line-up of USA-built, period-correct recreations of legendary gear. This is our take on the renowned blackface revision of the 76. Released in the early 1970’s, Rev. D is probably the most widely used and universally recognized dynamic processor ever made.

The Rev. D is admired for its punchy, thick, and harmonically complex tonality - our 76D is the solution for those desiring to add the sound of this analog legend to their outboard arsenal.

With the addition of the 76D, our line-up of the most desired revisions of the 76 circuit, which includes our 76A and 76F, is now complete. For the first time, this holy trinity of classic FET compressors is available for all to enjoy!

THE QUINTESSENTIAL 76 LIMITING AMPLIFIER

THE FAITHFUL RECREATION  OF A LEGENDARY FET LIMITING AMPLIFIER

The original's charm and unique coloration were due in large part to the iron used at the input.  The AudioScape 76D features a Cinemag CO-12 input transformer. We evaluated every modern transformer while designing the 76D circuit and this is by far the most authentic-sounding replica currently being made. Cinemag nailed it!

Equally important to the original unit’s sound is its lunatic-fast attack and release time constants.  This was a major area of interest to us, as many units do not faithfully represent the lighting-fast time constants of the original. We use the same NOS 70's FETs enabling the 76D to exhibit the same fast attack and release times as the original.

Users who are intimately familiar with the original will feel right at home.

PERIOD-CORRECT TIME CONSTANTS, ATTITUDE, and VINTAGE VIBE

The 76D is FAST, as it should be. Lead vocals, bass gtr, drums and drum rooms, and more, all benefit from the punch and thickness of the 76D and its beautifully complex saturation.

Like the original, the 76D can operate with all four RATIO buttons engaged at once to achieve the infamous “all buttons in” saturation mode (and any combination imaginable therein).

Common across all AudioScape gear is its ability to go to the edge without ever falling apart or crumbling like a dry coffee cake.  The 76D is no exception; low-end retention is excellent even under heavy compression.

PREMIUM, PREMIUM, PREMIUM!

True to AudioScape form, only the highest-grade parts that sonically match the objective are used.

We use carbon composition resistors in the audio path, and precision metal film resistors in the Side-Chain, ensuring the 76D will operate flawlessly for years to come while maintaining its unique box-tone.

A Triad power transformer and custom-wound Cinemag output transformer round out the complement of premium components used in the 76A.

WHY SHOULD YOU BUY A 76D?

- Proudly built in small-batches from end to end on-site, in the USA by a small team of skilled assemblers.  Each assembler is assigned 2 products, making them masters of their craft.
- Know where your hard-earned money is going and feel good about any purchase made from us!  Every dollar spent helps feed a family, fund college tuition and supports NEW product development / R & D.
- Our margins are very tight. BUT, this sacrifice allows us full control over every aspect of the manufacturing and assembly process.
- We are able to capitalize on the USA surplus market and use NOS parts where it matters and most importantly, we are able to offer a product that is (in our biased opinions), simply a step above the competition.

AUDIOSCAPE offers a HASSLE-FREE, 2-YEAR WARRANTY included with EVERY unit we sell!

FEATURED VIDEO DEMOS

Tech rant:

These are classic compressors and to nail the sound you have to use the proper vintage style parts. Let’s start with the input transformer. The Cinemag CM-O12 is the best and closest recreation of the UTC O-12. During R & D we tried countless other types and compared it against 5 different original vintage O-12’s from different eras, the CM-O12 either matched or exceeded the vintage ones every single time, and no other current manufacturer came close in this test to nailing the perfect balance of saturation and the bigger sound the vintage units have. The input transformer is one of the most noticeable and quintessential parts, it’s one of the first components your signal hits. We wouldn’t make 76’s without this transformer, You use something else and it isn’t a 76’ in our humble opinion…

The components they used during the Rev D days don’t go hand in hand with the ‘mass produced’ mentality of manufacturing. In our experience, trying to do larger runs with heat sensitive parts like carbon comp resistors equals a much more noisy and out of whack product. The secret for inquiring minds? Be willing to work harder than anyone else. We’ll gladly give that trade secret away :-) We stuff the boards weekly by hand to ensure heat sensitive don’t get overheated during any part of the assembly process. We make everything end to end here, not ‘final assembly in USA’ or ‘designed in USA’. Every product is made by our audio loving hands here in Port Orange, FL. Made in the USA

Simply put, if you’re looking to capture the vintage sound of the Rev D, you aren’t going to get any closer than this, unless you buy vintage one for 15K. Please enjoy and make the music we all enjoy sound better!
